Today, fellow author Annabelle Anders is stopping by to talk about her latest book!
Hi, Annabelle! Welcome
to the MLB blog! :)
Hello! Thanks for having
me.
My pleasure! Let me ask
a few questions since you're here...
All right.
Can you tell us a
little about your book? When did it come out and where can we get it?
HELL HATH NO FURY
was released on 7-17-17…. I love the date! I like weird numbers like
that. Anyway, my publisher, Blue Tulip Publishing, has made it available
at virtually every E-retailer out there. We should have paperbacks soon!
Awesome! Such a great cover...
And congrats on your debut novel's release! :)
So, what inspired you to write this book? How did you get into writing Regency romance?

So, what inspired you to write this book? How did you get into writing Regency romance?
Hell
Hath No Fury was never meant to become a book,
let alone a series. I'd been struggling with the first chapters of my books...
inserting too much back story, and I decided to play with the idea of writing an
intriguing first chapter – not worrying about the rest of the book at all.
So I sat down and just let my juices
start flowing... Hmm. A girl, of course. How about a girl who is drinking too
much? I've never read a Regency that started out that way. And how about I
make her angry? Very Angry! Why is she angry? Well, she's been betrayed! By
who? And the story just kind of rolled along from there.
It only took me three weeks to write
the rest of the book. (My other books have all taken about six weeks.) It was
weird how the story just developed on its own...
As a teenager I read Harlequin and
Silhouette romances… I was a member of their monthly book club, so got all of
the releases mailed to me regularly. I read on and off in between going away to
college, getting married and having kids. And mostly I just read
Contemporary.
And then my mom sent me a Mary
Balogh book. Got hooked on Regency forever after that… The more Regency
Romances I read, the more I felt compelled to write one! But I wanted to make them
just little bit different. So many of them seemed to have the same trope over
and over again (which I love, don’t get me wrong) but I thought they needed to
be shaken up a bit.
Isn't it interesting how the muse works? ;)
So, tell us...what, do you feel, sets your book apart from other books in the genre?

In HELL HATH NO FURY, my heroine is trying to get rid of a
husband, rather than land one. I thought that might shake things up a little
bit… :)
It is an interesting angle!
Mr. Nottingham’s lip twitched. He
was amused for all of twenty seconds before resuming his pacing.
He took precise steps, eight in one
direction and then eight in the opposite. He was obviously contemplating the
origin of the monkshood again. That little crease had appeared on his forehead,
quite noticeably giving his thoughts away.
“You worry too much,” Cecily said
gently. “Come over here and sit.” Sensing his stubbornness, she rose, grasped
his arm and urged him to take the seat she’d just vacated.
She then went behind him and put
both of her hands upon his shoulders. His muscles were coiled and tight. Instinctively,
Cecily moved her hands along his neck and began to knead and massage the cords
there. She’d done this many a time for her father when he’d spent too much time
examining paperwork at his desk.
Using her thumbs, she pressed hard,
small circles into the tense muscles until they began to relax. As they
loosened, her hands continued their exploration. Too late, Cecily realized,
this was quite different than touching her father.
When she slid her fingers up the
back of his head, into his crisp clean hair, he sighed deeply. The scent of his
soap or cologne, she wasn’t certain which, tantalized her senses. The spicy
warmth tugged at her to lean forward and inhale deeply.
With each stroke of her hands, the
garden seemed to grow smaller and smaller. Merely intending to help Mr.
Nottingham relax, she was surprised at how much touching him affected her.
Reaching forward, placing her hands
on both sides of his neck, she could barely make out the flutter of his pulse.
His chin fell forward. At last, he’d
surrendered to her touch.
She would stop, but not yet. Just a
little longer…
It ought not to, but touching him…
made her feel, somehow, alive again – for the moment anyhow.
Working behind him still, she
smoothed the skin on his brow. With his eyes closed, he shifted on the bench
and relaxed into her. Cradling him now, she continued tracing and massaging the
contours of his face. And then his neck again, her fingers sliding under his
cravat.
Whereas his jaw was rough from a
day’s worth of stubble, the skin around his shoulders was warm and smooth. She
wondered what it would feel like against her lips.
All of a sudden, this did not feel
so innocent.
As though he had read her mind, he
tipped his head back, forcing her ministrations to a halt.
Stormy blue eyes gazed at her with a
myriad of sentiments. Passion, guilt, accusation, and confusion. He reached up
and stilled her hands. This was madness, but neither of them seemed willing to
move away from the other.
“Stephen!” A voice from the terrace
jerked them both out of the trance they’d fallen into. “Stephen!”
Ah, yes. Flavion.
I'm
definitely interested to find out where this story goes! ;)
Let's try another question,
okay?
No secrets
in my life. LOL. I am most definitely an “open book” (Groan). Excuse the
pun…
I have
three other projects in the works right now.
Of course,
Blue Tulip and I are working to release the follow up to HELL HATH NO FURY, which is titled HELL IN A HAND BASKET, and hopefully we can get that out before the
end of the year.
I’m also
working with another publisher, The Wild Rose Press, on a four book series
which I finished writing last year. It’s called Lord Love a Lady and is Pure
Regency Romance FUN! I’m so excited about this series because, I think,
unlike many series that I’ve read, the books get better and better as you get
deeper into it. The last book is the best book I’ve ever written (in my
opinion). And I can hardly WAIT to release it! These should start coming
out, I think, in early 2018.
The book
I’m writing right now will likely be my first self-published work. It’s the
first book of a Regency Romance series where the heroines all suffer from some
sort of mild Anxiety disorder. It’s a tricky series because I want to handle
the subject matter sensitively, but also have some fun. Ironically enough,
this book will likely be the next one to release!
Wow! They all sound great!
We look forward to seeing what happens with your next book.

Thanks
for stopping by to tell us about Hell Hath No Fury, Annabelle!
Thank you SO MUCH for
having me here!
Of course!
Readers,
you'll just have to pick up a copy of this Regency romance with a comical element!
Here is the blurb.
TO KEEP THE MONEY HE HAS TO KEEP HER
AS WELL
Cecily Nottingham has made a huge
mistake.
The marriage bed was still warm when
the earl she thought she loved crawled out of it and announced that he loved
someone else.
Loves. Someone else.
All he saw in Cecily was her
dowry.
But he’s in for the shock of his
life, because in order to keep the money, he has to keep her.
With nothing to lose, in an attempt
to goad the earl into divorcing her, Cecily sets out to seduce her husband’s
cousin, Stephen Nottingham.
Little does she realize that Stephen
would turn out to be everything her husband was not: Honorable, loyal,
trustworthy…
Handsome as sin.
Stephen returned to England for one reason
-- save his cousin’s estate from financial ruin.
Instead, he finds himself tempted by
his cousin’s beautiful and scorned wife.
He isn’t sure what to do first – strangle
his cousin, or kiss his wife.
His honor is put to the test, right
along with his self-control.
Amid snakes, duels and a good
catfight, Cecily realizes the game she’s playing has high stakes indeed.
There are only a few ways for a
marriage to end in Regency England and none of them come without a high price.
Is she willing to pay it? Is Stephen?
A ‘Happily Ever After’ hangs in the
balance, because, yes, love can conquer all, but sometimes it needs a little
bit of help.

About the Author:
Married to the same man for over 25
years, I am a mother to three children and two Miniature Wiener dogs. After
owning a business and experiencing considerable success, my husband and I got
caught in the financial crisis and lost everything; our businesses, our home,
even our car.
At this point, I put my B.A. in
Poly Sci to use and took work as a waitress and bartender. Unwilling to give up on a professional life, I
simultaneously went back to college and obtained a degree in Energy Management.
And then the energy market dropped off.
Then my dog died.
I can only be grateful for this series of unfortunate events, for, with nothing to lose and completely demoralized, I sat down and began to write the romance novels which had until then, existed only in my imagination.

I am happy to have found my place in
life.
Finally.
Finally.
