Double Awesome Reviews!

Great news! Yesterday I discovered these cool reviews for my books…

Blood Instincts, a paranormal romance/urban fantasy (with a slightly futuristic angle)

on August 16, 2018

I’ve not read the first volume in the Blood at First Sight series. I enjoyed this book as a stand alone work with no problem.

The story revolves around Oliver, a vampire, and Myah, whose father was a vampire and whose mother was human. They were not supposed to be able to have children, so Myah is special. Myah does not know her heritage , and the story revolves around Oliver’s attempt to introduce her to the life of an “other.”

The book was easy to read, interesting, and enjoyable. The plot moved quickly. The romantic scenes were detailed and sensuous. The author led me to care about Myah. I found myself feeling rather protective of her and becoming concerned whenever I suspected that any other creature – human or otherwise – might harm her.

I will confess that I do not often read paranormal romance. I was drawn to the book because I have enjoyed dome of the author’s other work. However, I found Blood Instincts to be enjoyable and well-worth a read.

-----

Heiresses in Love Trilogy, a historical romance boxed set (covers the entire Heiresses in Love Series)

Fara doesn’t want to risk her heart but she does, and what will happen?
Chloe doesn’t tell the whole truth to a man she loves.

Adrienne…will she fight for love or fall?

All of these stories were well written by a great author. The reader will be gripped to the pages waiting to find out what happens. Great word building and great characters you want to see good things happen to.

Wow! Thanks, David and Barbara, for your kind comments! ♥

Radio Interview on Thursday!

Mark your calendars, readers! The awesome author duo and hosts of the Haunted Nights Live! show, Tamara Thorne and Alistair Cross have once again asked me to visit.

Check out a radio spot this Thursday, April 6th on BlogTalk Radio, on this paranormal themed show. What's in store for you? Well, you'll get a couple sneak peeks into some paranormal books I will have out this year... Woo hoo! :)

And, of course, we'll probably talk about my obsession with the paranormal. ;) This show is quite popular, and the Thorne & Cross team has seen some very famous authors on there. Check out the list of past guests here.

But it's all very casual, and should be very exciting! I loved being on their show in July of 2015. Fun, fun, fun! I look forward to the questions they might throw at me this time. Look at their Facebook page here for updates. Also, check out their Twitter handle and blog.

Here is official link for the radio interview. :)

So, catch us all on Thursday at 8PM EST for a great time. See you there!

Please refer to my author website for more information on how you can learn about the book, as well as to find buy links or details about the release party. You can also subscribe to my monthly author newsletter here for updates!

In other news, I'm currently editing Directions of the Heart, a contemporary romance/romantic drama collection, and I expect to have that one out in perhaps January or February of 2017.

Also, Upon Your Love, book three of the Heiresses in Love Series, is currently with the editor at my publisher. I hope to see that out soon as well! ;)

If you didn't yet get to see the new cover design for Upon Your Return, the first book in the series, here it is!

We've also reached a pretty major milestone on the MLB blog. This is our 450th post.

Yeah...awesome!

So, to celebrate this anniversary, I've decided to do a small giveaway.

Today I'm giving away three e-book copies of Second Nature, my paranormal romance/urban fantasy and book one of the Blood at First Sight Series. Why give this book away? Sometime in 2017, readers will see the sequel release. I'm in the midst of finishing Blood Instincts now (72,000 words in). It just makes sense to give readers a chance who haven't looked at the series yet.

To qualify for your prize, please leave a comment on this post telling me why you like to read paranormal tales, and don't forget to provide your contact information, including an email address, where we can send your book. I will choose three random winners.

Happy early October...

She never expected it…
Desiree Edwards has a problem. She’s been attacked, kidnapped and forced to get along with a vampire of all things. It’s something right out of the story books she reads, or her worst nightmare. But, sometimes he’s not the monster he appears to be. He seems so humanlike that she can’t help it when her emotions betray her, when her body betrays her. To make matters worse, she finds out more about herself than she ever wanted to know.

She was unlike any other…

Alec has a problem. The animal in him wants Desiree. But, so does the man. The more he learns about her, the harder it is to deny what he wants. But, he’s a freak, and she’s just a human. The two species don’t mix that way. Then an old enemy surfaces and Alec is forced to make a choice. His life or hers.

Great 4 Star Review for SECOND NATURE!

Just found this wonderful review for Second Nature, my new paranormal romance/urban fantasy book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Can Opposites Attract?, January 23, 2015

By
The Kindle Book Review

This review is from: Second Nature (Blood At First Sight Book 1) (Kindle Edition)

Marie Lavender’s first venture into the paranormal is a success.

Alec and Desiree are in love. The complicating factor is that he is a vampire and she is human. Alec exists on human blood, other food makes him ill, he must avoid sunlight, and he will live forever. Desiree is human. She loves wine and food, she sleeps at night, and she is mortal.
Can a human love a vampire?

I suppose all who have seen Twilight feel they know the answer to this question, but Lavender raises it anew in Second Nature. Can two very different creatures find happiness? Or is their relationship doomed to exist solely on a physical level.

On one level, this a straight romance, and, as a romance, it succeeds. It is fast moving, interesting, and very romantic. The reader comes to like the characters and roots for them to work things out so that they can be together. The fact that one of characters is a vampire, simply introduces new complications to the developing relationship

On another level, the book explores the nature of relationships. Can opposites attract? Can two very different people (or creatures) be happy together, or is eHarmony on the right track, claiming that we are most happy with those who are similar to us? Seldom do we find a romance that deals with weightier issues, but Lavender does this, and she does it in a light-hearted, unobtrusive manner.
A racy story and food for thought. Quite a combination.

I received a copy of the book in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.
