Spotlight: Kat Schuessler Visits to Talk About Romantic Suspense, NO BACKWARD GLANCES!

Today, fellow author Kat Schuessler is stopping by to talk about her latest book!

Hello, Kat! As always, it's a pleasure to see you. Welcome to the MLB blog! :)

Hello! Thank you for having me here.

Of course! So, let me ask a few questions since you're here...

All right.

Can you tell us a little about your latest book? When did it come out and where can we get it?

It originally came out last April 21st, but was recently re-released in mid-March. You can get it on Amazon or CreateSpace.

Great!

So, what inspired you to write this book? And how did you get into writing romance?

My book was inspired by a heartbreak that I suffered in 2011 and by the man that helped me get through it with some sanity. As for the romance genre, I decided to give it a try after I read Kresley Cole's "Immortals After Dark" series and discovered that dirty writing was acceptable and even craved by some women. It helped me write what came naturally without feeling self-conscious about it.

Okay.

So, tell us...what, do you feel, sets your book apart from other books in the genre?

I think that the way I wrote No Backward Glances is more realistic than most romance books. I tried to stick with what people would actually say and do so that it didn't come across as a cliché run-of-the-mill romance novel, and from what I've read in reviews readers seem to appreciate that.

Please give us a teaser or two of the book if you can.

Rory felt a fluttering in her stomach that she hadn’t felt in a long time. She tried to tell herself it was hunger, or stress from her long morning, and not that incredible grin or his sexy gaze that held her eyes. But a large part of her wasn’t convinced. She pushed that thought away, not willing or ready to think about it yet.
The two finished eating, and talked about everything from music to books and movies until they realized that their plates had been empty for about an hour.
“Shit, I have to get back. Jon is going to kill me.” Rory started to gather her tray, mug and silverware.
“Here, I’ve got it. Go back to work before you get in trouble.” Jay grabbed for her dishes but she moved them out of his reach.
“Thanks, but I’ll get it.”
“Lorelai, give me the dishes.”
“No,” she exclaimed. “I’ve got it!”
“You’re so stubborn! Fine, take them.” Jay let go of the dishes he’d been trying to grab, and Rory stumbled backwards. Jay grabbed at her to stop her fall and instinctively pulled her into him. They both felt the static shock as her body fit perfectly against his, her soft curves melting into his lean muscles.
For a brief moment, they both forgot that Rory’s break was far overdue. They were caught in each other's eyes and arms, and both of their breathing had become shallow. Going on his instinct again, Jay angled his lips closer to Rory’s still not taking his eyes off of her vivid green ones. Just as their lips were about to meet, his walkie-talkie blared.

Nice tension there!

Let's try another question, okay?

I'm sure readers are curious about your next writing project. Can you tell us what you've got cooking up now or is that a secret?

I'm working on sequels to NBG. I've already got the second book in the series, Think of Me, ready for editing and I'm currently writing the third, Twisted Every Way. I even have ideas for a fourth swimming around. There will definitely be more from me.

That's great! We certainly look forward to your next book!

Thanks so much for stopping by to tell us about No Backward Glances, Kat!

Thank you, Marie, for having me on your blog!

You're welcome! It's always a pleasure!

Readers, you'll just have to pick up a copy of this fascinating, steamy romantic suspense!

Here is the blurb for No Backward Glances.

When Lorelai Todd has her heart shattered by her boyfriend, she vows to never trust a man again. Six months later, she is called to the hospital where she works  to help with an emergency. She speeds to get there and is pulled over by Jay, the handsome cop that will eventually threaten to break down the walls around her heart.
After pulling over the beautiful nurse that caught his eye, Jay regrets not asking her out, until he is called to the hospital to identify a potential kidnapping victim who has been shot. When he arrives at the hospital to speak with the nurse in charge, he is surprised and happy to discover that it's Lorelai, the beauty he pulled over for speeding. He wastes no time in asking her out and she accepts, but hesitantly.
As their relationship progresses and gets significantly steamier, Jay wonders whether or not he can convince her to let her guard down and trust him while also trying to track down the man who kidnapped and shot the young victim that brought them together.
While he's wooing Lorelai, Jay also has to follow leads, examine new evidence, and deal with the shock of an unexpected suspect. In the midst of all of this, somebody from his past shows up and threatens to ruin all of the progress he's made with Lorelai. Can he convince her that he won't hurt her like her ex, or will she throw away her chance at happiness for fear of her heart breaking once more?
