Spotlight: Mika Jolie Visits to Talk About Her New Release!

Today, we're doing something a little different. Author Mika Jolie is stopping by to talk about her awesome new book in a cover reveal!

Hello! Thanks so much for having me!

 

 

 

My pleasure, of course! So, let me ask a few questions since you're here...

All right.

Can you tell us a little about your latest book? When did it come out and where can we get it?

 

Claire is an actress, singer, designer who grew up with Forrest. There’s always tension between the two. On top of that, they share an infinity tattoo. In Tattooed Hearts we get to find out why they are the way they are. 

Tattooed Hearts will be released around the end of June.

So, what inspired you to write your book? How did you get into writing contemporary romance?

I try to write about every day events so that my stories are relatable. As for contemporary romance, I love that there’s a genre that gives me the freedom to weave life and romance into evocative tales. 

I agree. As writers, there's nothing we value more than literary freedom.  ;)

What, do you feel, sets this book apart from other books in the genre?

Ultimately, it comes down to your author’s unique voice. For example, a fellow author friend of mine always points out where she’d add humor in a scene, I go for the gut-wrenching. (Laughs.)

So...give us a teaser or two if you can.

 

She knocked on the door and waited. Nothing.

She knocked again, a little firmer this time. Still nothing.

Claire reached in her purse and grabbed her phone. Damn, no freaking signal. Another perk of living on the island. Phone signals were capricious. She turned on her heels to the back of the house where she knew he kept the emergency key, then headed back to the front. The night wind penetrated the wool coat with absurd ease, making her shiver. She drew her shawl around herself more tightly to keep out the cold as she fumbled with the key.

The door slowly creaked open; she stepped inside and was greeted by a muted house, which was not typical of Forrest. She headed down the hall, the click of her heels amplified with each step on the wooden floor. She entered the family room. In here, ESPN always blared in the background. Tonight, there was nothing but an eerie, hollow silence.

A bad feeling slithered up the back of her neck.

She dug in her purse for her phone again. One finger dragged along the screen, it lit up. Still no signal. A knot of fear twisted in her gut.

"Claire."

The sound of Forrest's voice, infused with a question mark, caused her heart to jump and fill with joy, relief. She whipped around and faced the main reason she came back to Martha's Vineyard.

 

Woo! I'm fanning myself here...

So, I'm sure readers are curious about your next writing project. Can you tell us what you've got cooking up now or is that a secret?

 

 

No secret. Well, kind of. I’m currently working on a novella. It’s about one of couples from the Martha’s Way series. I don’t have a due date out yet. I’m also working on Keely and Blake’s story. They technically started the series and will close it out. I’m very sad to let them go. At the same time, I’m looking forward to start the Serrano series, which will take place in New Jersey and we’ll get to know Lily’s three brothers a bit more. (Smiles.) That will be a lot of fun.
